Finale Tutorial
Note! This tutorial was originally designed for Finale 2003, some of the graphics may look slightly different on later versions.
Prepared by Paul Tkachenko, 8th October 2003 and revised 22nd January 2006.

Objective:
To create a simple trumpet piece with piano accompaniment with the following:
• Chords
• Lyrics
• Dynamics
Step 1.
1. Open the program and the set-up wizard will start automatically.
2. Enter the title "Twinkle twinkle little star"
3. "Traditional" as composer.
4. Your own name under copyright.
5. Click on next …
6. Select Trumpet in Bb and Piano from the list. (Click on add).
7. Click on next …
8. Leave the time signature as C and change the key signature to F major.
9. Click on next …
10. Leave the initial tempo marking, pick-up and font.
11. Click on finish …
12. Congratulations – you’ve just set up everything you need to start making music.
Step 2.
We can now see the music in what is referred to as PAGE VIEW. That means you see the music as it will be printed out. You can move around the screen just as you would in a word processor, but you can also move around by holding the right mouse button down and moving the mouse around.
Try that …
Now lets have a look at SCROLL VIEW. Go to the VIEW drop down menu and choose SCROLL VIEW. Alternatively use "ctrl e".
Now you can see the music going from left to an indefinite right.
We are going to use SCROLL VIEW for entering the music but this can also be done just as well in PAGE VIEW.
Before we start that, it would be useful to see the trumpet part in concert pitch.
Go to the OPTIONS drop down menu and choose DISPLAY IN CONCERT PITCH.
Now everything is in concert pitch. You can deselect this at any point.
Step 3.

Look for the main tool palette – it looks like this one.
Choose the simple entry tool, it’s the one that I’ve circled above. If you are still not sure, just let the mouse pointer hover over it and it will tell you what each tool is called.
When you select the simple entry tool, the mouse pointer will become a note and you can just click in the tune. You can select different note values with the mouse or you can change the note value by pressing on the corresponding number on the keyboard.
Click in this part of the tune. I guess you will be able to figure out how to play it back …

NOW SAVE YOUR WORK.
Step 4.
Now we are going to enter the rest of the melody using HYPERSCRIBE. That’s the little tool with the keyboard icon:

HYPERSCRIBE allows you to play in the music using a MIDI keyboard.
Simply click on the bar that you want to start recording at and (after a one bar count in) off you go!
When you have finished just click anywhere on the screen to stop recording.
Got that? You may need a few attempts to get it all. If you are not satisfied with the way it is writing the music for you have a play around with the HYPERSCRIBE OPTIONS. You will find this in the Hyperscribe dropdown menu:

Here, you can play around with the quantise settings etc. Have a play around with it if you need to. If the tempo is too fast for you to play it accurately then select, BEAT SOURCE – PLAYBACK AND/OR CLICK … Like this:

Now enter the bass part in the same way and SAVE YOUR WORK.
Step 5.
Now we are going to use the MASS EDIT TOOL:
In Finale 2003: and in Finale 2005 and after:
This works just like in a work processor – you highlight the text (i.e. the music) and you can copy it, transpose it and do pretty much whatever you want with it!
What we are going to do is copy the trumpet part into the right hand of the piano. Just highlight it and drag it down there.
Got it?
Now we are going to select the right hand of the piano part and transpose it up the octave (like in the example.) Select the music and the go to MASS EDIT dropdown menu and the select transpose. I’ll leave the rest up to you to figure out!
You should also use the MASS EDIT tool for deleting bars at the end of the piece. Highlight them and hit delete on the keyboard. NOW SAVE YOUR WORK.
Step 6.
Now we are going to enter chords symbols into the left-hand part of the piano.
Can you guess which button is the chord tool?

That’s the one.
Now go to the ‘chord’ dropdown menu, which has just appeared. Choose ‘type into score’. Click on the first note of the bass part and type in the chords for the first 4 bars only.
Now go back to the ‘chord’ dropdown menu and select ‘MIDI INPUT’.
Now click on the bass notes and play in the chords as triads in root position. Jump to the next chord by pressing any SINGLE note above middle C. Jump back a chord by pressing on any note below middle C.
Easy or what? SAVE YOUR WORK.
Step 7.
Now we are going to enter some lyrics into the trumpet part. Click on the lyric tool – you should be able to find it on your own by now.
Click on the first note of the trumpet part and type in the lyrics. Jump to the next note by hitting space. Elided notes (two notes – one word) can be created by using ‘-‘ instead of a space.
Deselect DISPLAY IN CONCERT PITCH, return to PAGE VIEW. Any bars in the wrong system? Use the MASS EDIT TOOL to select a bar and ‘nudge’ it to the next system by using the arrow keys. Now print it, save it or take it home and put in on the fridge.
Conclusion.
Well you should have just about everything you need for producing simple scores. You’ll find that Finale often has several ways of doing the same thing which means you can tailor the program to your own personal style of working. I hope you find it as useful and rewarding as I have.

Change the staff setting using the staff tool or change the key:

Hopefully the rest will should become obvious or found out through experimentation.

Program Easyworship adalah sebuah program yang lumayan bagus untuk digunakan dalam Ibadah. Salah satu dari begitu banyak keunggulan program ini adalah menampilkan Video Camera/Handycam secara live dan bersamaan dengan teks lagu yang dinyanyikan saat itu juga. Lain kata, hasil live Handycam menjadi background teks lagu atau Alkitab kita. Wow dahsyat. Sebelum mengenal Easyworship, kami pernah mengeluarkan biaya hampir 4 juta rupiah untuk membeli sebuah alat yang bernama overlay, untuk mengcompare video live dengan teks lagu.

Penasaran bagaimana teknisnya....................??? 

Sebelumnya, sediakan Handycam/Video Camera Anda beserta kabel video Outputnya. Namun jarang Handycam yang mempunyai kabel output USB padahal input ke komputer kita adalah line USB. Karena itu kita akalin dengan menggunakan TV Tuner Profesional KWORLD yang lengkap dnegan line USB dan menerima input Handycam. (Harga perangkat ini sekitar 700-800 rb).
